Inserts & Facias

Cast iron inserts were a fixture in homes of the traditional architectural periods such as Victorian, Federation & Edwardian and distinguished by their period specific decorative features.
Originally inserts were used as the primary source of heat and included an intergrated grate to burn solid fuels such as timber or coal.
Inserts are still a popular choice in new and renovated homes built in the classic styles where decorative gas coal burners are usually fitted to recreate the original live fire effect.
Fascias are often used in conjunction with a mantelpiece or surround. They contribute the first layer of decorative effect and by distancing the mantel or surround from the fireplace opening help to proportion the fireplace suite.
Many of the modern fascias in Agnews range lend themselves to use as stand alone fireplace trims, providing simpler solutions for contemporary settings. The subtle character of cast iron brings a sense of substance to the fireplace setting.
Cast iron's ability to tolerate very high heat exposure enables it to provide a stable and non-combustible zone immediately around the open fireplace or gas heater.
